Bucks use big third quarter to top Gladwin

ROSCOMMON – Emily Barnhart had a huge game for the Roscommon girls basketball team when the Bucks faced Gladwin on Thursday, Feb. 1 in Roscommon, helping the Bucks to a 54-50 victory that snapped a 12-game losing streak.

Barnhart scored 27 points, which included a 5-of-7 performance at the free throw line. She scored 8 points in the first quarter and had 11 in the third. Maleah Wooten contributed 13 points, while Peyton Church and Jen Tussej each had 4. Emily Terry, Morgan Thomas and Kalie Murray chipped in with 2 apiece. The Bucks finished the game shooting 12-of-19 at the free throw line.

After taking an 18-14 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Bucks struggled offensively in the second quarter and was outscored, 12-8 which sent the two teams into the locker room tied, 26-26 at halftime.

The Bucks came out for the third quarter firing on all cylinders, outscoring Gladwin, 19-10 and took a 45-36 lead into the fourth quarter.

Gabby Airbets led Gladwin in scoring with 17 points, Brenna Hover contributed 14 and Brooke Marsrow added 10. The Flying G’s were 6-of-18 at the free throw line for the game.
