Lady Eagles softball season recap

2023 Hale softball team

By Erica Bernard, student

HALE- The Lady Eagles softball team has added onto their win streak after their big win against Wolverine.  After taking a couple of tough losses after their first win, the Lady Eagles gained back their confidence after a win against Charelston Heston. Despite taking losses against Hillman and at the Kris Popp Invitational, these ladies are not backing down.

Two freshmen, Callie Hicks and Brooke Sheldon, both hit their first in-the-park home runs.  Another freshman, Alessandra Beebe, has been raking up the strikeouts alongside junior Erica Bernard. Cordelia Streeter has also got some pitching time in the junior varsity game against Oscoda.

The ladies are one tight-knit group of girls that have a drive to win.  Their next win they took was when they split in a game against Augres. The lady eagles struggled in the first game offensively, but were able to come back in the second game to take a win on their final home game of the season.  They then had some far away games against Posen and Atlanta where the ladies fought hard but were not able to win either.

Coming into districts with these losses allowed for the ladies to not go down without a fight.  Their district game on June 2nd against Mio started strong with Hale being in the lead until around the 4th inning where Mio pulled ahead.  The final score ended 4-11.

Overall, this season these ladies have proved that just because they are a very young team, does not mean they should be underestimated!
