Eagles rout Fairview for third straight win

HALE – It’s said that home is where the heart is. It’s also been where the victories have been for the Eagles this season. The Eagles soared to their third straight win at home last Monday night with a 63-39 rout of Fairview in a North Star League Little Dipper contest.

But it wasn’t always perfect.

“I thought we were good at times, but then we would hit a stretch and get very sloppy with the ball,” Kimmerer said. “We didn’t seem to come up with many 50/50 balls, and that has been one of the things we had done well so far this year. I think the tough schedule we have played helped us overcome some of those things to get the win.”

The Eagles flew out to an 18-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and outscored Fairview 18-8 in the second for a substantial 36-18 lead at the half. Hale led, 51-26 going into the fourth quarter.

Joseph Kimmerer went off for 31 points, hitting 6 of 10 from 3-point range, to lead the Eagles, while hauling down eight rebounds, picking off five steals and three blocked shots.

Thome Sauseda added 14 points along with one rebound and one assist. Trent Kangas finished with eight points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Garrett Beebe contributed eight points, eight rebounds, one assist and three blocked shots. Joel Bovee scored three points and had one assist. Connor Ready added two points and had one rebound. Trent Reilly snared three rebounds, had one steal and one blocked shot. Josh Bonner had two assists and one steal.

Hale is off now until Saturday, Jan. 5 when the Eagles return to action in a non-conference game at Lake Leelanau St. Mary that is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. tipoff. The Eagles resume league play Tuesday, Jan. 5 with a road trip to Au Gres-Sims.
