Michigan Trail Town paddling celebration

REGION- Paddle Antrim is excited to announce it will kick off the paddling season on the Chain of Lakes Water Trail with Short’s Brewing Company. Elk Rapids Trail Alliance will also join to celebrate Elk Rapids’ recent designation as a Pure Michigan Trail Town.

On Wed, May 31, Paddle Antrim and Short’s Brewing Company invite the public to join for a community paddle on Elk River launching from Elk Rapids Rotary Park followed by a gathering just up the road at the Short’s Brewing Company’s Pull Barn.

This special gathering is the celebration of what will be another exciting season on the Chain of Lakes Water Trail, Northern Michigan’s only state designated water trail. A community paddle will take place from 5 – 6:30 p.m. on Elk River followed by a gathering featuring live music, food trucks, and delicious beverages at Short’s Pull Barn.

In addition to this event, Paddle Antrim offers programming all season long. “Our adult and youth classes and community paddles are great ways for paddlers to connect with each other and the water in a fun and educational way,” said Deana Jerdee, Paddle Antrim Executive Director. “We look forward to kicking the season off on May 31 and ending the season with a bang at the 8th Paddle Antrim Festival in September.”
