John Foor, our courageous husband, dad, and grandpa went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2023. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a battle with mesothelioma. He was 2 days shy of his 86th birthday.

He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy (Sharp). He was married to his sweetheart for 65 years. Together they had 3 children: Lauri (Marshall) Grimmett, Marty (Beth) Foor, and Jeff (Pam) Foor. John is the proud grandpa of 7 grandchildren: Danielle (Mark) Zieroff, Tiffany (Cale) Sito, Kaitlyn (Chandler) Karadsheh, Gabe Foor, Jacob Foor, Ben Foor, and Chaz Foor, as well as 7 great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his brother Bernie (Roszella) Foor, sisters Joyce (Delano) Brubaker and Deb (Bruce) Kiester, and in-laws Sally Miller, Candy Foor, Jim Donahue, Chuck and Linda Newman, and Tom and Janet Sharp. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Melvin and Nellie (Hetherington) Foor, 2 brothers Richard and Elwood Foor, and in-laws: Mark and Ethal Sharp, June Donahue and Russ and Phyllis Allen.

John was born in Gladwin, Michigan on May 14, 1937. Him and his 5 siblings grew up on a farm in Secord. He graduated from Gladwin High School in 1955 where he loved playing football. He was employed by Dow Chemical in Midland for 38 years as a pipefitter and supervisor. After retirement, he enjoyed his winters in Zephyrhills, Florida and leading Bible Studies there. He created a campground for his friends and family to make memories at in the summer. His favorite things to do were golf, morning coffee with friends, working various jobs around the Gladwin community, and playing games. His most important commitments were to his family and Grace Baptist Church, where he was a founding member, deacon, and treasurer for 50 years. People respected him as a leader and he taught his children to lead as well. He had a servant’s heart and was willing to help anyone he met.

He would want you to know how much he loved the Lord and going to church and reading his Bible. His desire would be that all of you would join him in Heaven someday. A funeral service will take place on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Gladwin with Elder Sam Wilson officiating.
