Paul Donald Schmidt
Age 85 of East Tawas, Michigan died on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at My Michigan Medical Center in Tawas City, Michigan. Don was born the son of Francis and Rose (Moritz) Schmidt on March 16, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Southwestern High School class of 1959 in Detroit. .Don proudly served our country in the U.S. Army from 1963 – 1965 in the military police. He worked as a machinist for 30 plus years specializing in the aerospace industry. Don was an avid Michigan outdoorsman, enjoying, hunting, fishing and spending time at the family cabin. Don is survived by his life partner and best friend Marguerite Schmidt, his three sons and spouses; Austin Thomas (Lisa Brumfield), Eric Thomas (Tera Ratliff) and Carl (Nitasha) Schmidt; his brother Frank (Virginia) Schmidt; grandchildren, Angela, Amanda, Alexander, Luke, Kennedy and Emerson and his great grandchildren Camden, Rylie, Brian Jr., Rowen and Darren; and his nieces, Melinda LeVar and Corinne Graham. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Schmidt and his son Zachary Thomas. Cremation has taken place and private gravesite services will be held for Don at the All Saints Cemetery and The Preserve in Waterford, Michigan.
