Celina May Spycher, age 83, of Sterling, Michigan, passed away on March 29, 2026. She was born on December 10, 1942, in Bay City, Michigan to the late William “Bill” and Gertrude (Beebe) Hammel, and lived a life marked by creativity, generosity, and a spirited love for the people and animals around her.
Celina was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth and comfort to many. She is survived by her four children and three stepchildren, Leonard (Linda) Sexton, Cheryl (David) Berry, Jeffrey (Cricket) Sexton, Mark Sexton, Donna Bouldin, Diane (Robert) Szostak, and Darell (Brandi) Spycher. She is also survived by her sisters Annette and Brenda, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will forever cherish her memory and the many ways she enriched their lives.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald E. Spycher, her son Andrew Sexton, her sisters Joyce Altergott and Penny Britton and grandson Timothy Warlick. Celina carried the love of her family with her throughout her life, and her devotion to them was evident in the care, kindness, and steady support she offered to those closest to her.
Celina worked at Standish Products for 10 years before continuing her career in retail. She was known as a dependable and hardworking woman who approached her responsibilities with quiet determination and pride. Her work ethic reflected the same thoughtful and capable nature she brought to every part of her life. Whether on the job or at home, she was someone others could count on.
Outside of work, Celina found joy in the simple and meaningful things that made life special. She loved cats and even fostered them through the local animal shelter, offering comfort and care to animals in need. Her compassion extended beyond her own home, and her kindness made a difference in the lives of many cats that were fortunate enough to cross her path. She also had a deep passion for crocheting, creating with patience and skill, and she was especially known for her famous Christmas cookies, which brought happiness to family and friends during the holiday season.
Celina will be remembered as a creative, spirited, and generous woman whose heart was as large as her talents were many. She had a way of making others feel welcome and valued, and her presence was a gift to all who knew her. Her family and friends will remember her laughter, her warmth, and the special traditions she created and carried forward through the years.
Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply, in the kindness she showed to others, and in the countless memories she leaves behind. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Celina’s life was one of devotion, compassion, and quiet strength, and her memory will be cherished always.
Honoring Celina’s wishes, cremation has taken place there will be a family graveside memorial at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lee Ramsay Funeral Home in Standish Michigan.
