Audrey DeWitt, 85, of Houghton Lake

Audrey June DeWitt, 85, of Houghton Lake passed away on Monday June 1, 2026 at her home in White Cloud with her loving family by her side.

Audrey was born on June 1, 1941 in Topinabee, Michigan to Floyd and Martha (Trimm) Knight, growing up with all the family members nicknaming her “Peanut”. She moved to the Mason area, where she graduated from Mason High School in 1959.  At the time Audrey met a young man from Lansing Sexton High School by the name of Charles Gordon DeWitt.  The couple courted and later married in Lansing on August 25 1962.  Audrey worked as a Union Representative for General Motors for many years before  her retirement.  The couple moved from their DeWitt home to Houghton Lake in 1999.  They then moved to SanAntonio, Texas in 2017 before moving back by their children in White Cloud.  Audrey loved her work with the UAW 652 in Lansing, and she enjoyed dressing up, going out, and meeting new friends. Occasionally going to the casino and a good cup of coffee where also high on her list of enjoyable things to do.  She cherished time spent at Little Boots Restaurant with her friends, Melissa, Sherry, and Betsy.

Surviving Mrs. DeWitt are her loving husband of 63 years, Charles  Gordon DeWitt of White Cloud; daughter, Debbie Lee (Roger) Duman of White Cloud; son-in-law, Tim Devlin of White Cloud; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and  half-sister, Pamela Sue Wampler of Lansing.  Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Doreen Lynn Devlin, and sister, Betty Jean DeWitt. 

Funeral Services for Audrey June DeWitt will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday June 4, 2026 from Christler Funeral Home-Houghton Lake4 Chapel. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 4, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Christler Funeral Home-Houghton Lake Chapel Houghton Lake.  Memorial contributions in memory of Audrey are asked to be directed to the American Cancer Society. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com
