Shirley Mae (Stone) Clauss, age 85, passed away surrounded by her family on October 28, 2025, at her home in Hale, MI. She was born on November 4, 1939, to Stuart and Helen (Williams) Stone in Durand, MI. She married the love of her life, George “Big Red” Clauss on November 3, 1956. Shirley was a stay-at-home mom until becoming a bus driver for Carrollton school system, retiring in 1978. She loved going to Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge every winter since 1974. She enjoyed her time in camp and made many longtime friends that became like family. She enjoyed singing and playing a variety of musical instruments. Karaoke became her favorite hobby of all. Shirley was also a State Champion Women’s archer. She received many awards and won multiple championships. She also loved gathering with her family and friends, which usually always included singing, dancing and fancy spirited drinks.
Shirley is survived by her children; George “Homer” (Terri) Clauss III of Manistique, MI, Robin Lynn Gregory of Birch Run, MI, and Jamie Sue (Pat) Lasecki of Hale, MI, brothers; James (Darla) Stone of Birch Run, MI, Stuart (Eva) Stone of Bridgeport, MI, Richard (Sue) Stone of Hale, MI, Jerine Stone of Hale, Mi. Shirley was blessed with 8 grandchildren: George (Sara) Clauss IV, Jennifer (David) Sparks, Sage Whyte, Rebecca (Jerry) Clark, Ashley Johnson, April Gregory, Stacy Clauss, and Savannah Lasecki, 16 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchild, as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband George of 62 years, she is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Rodney David Stone.
Services for Shirley will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Buresh Funeral Home in Hale, MI. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and conclude at the time of service at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place following the funeral at Logan Township Cemetery.
