Joyce Mae Palmer, 82, of Grayling, MI passed away peacefully with her two sons by her side on May 3, 2024 in Gaylord, MI.
Joyce was born on March 3, 1942 to Donald and Hazel (McQuillen) Houk in Jackson, MI. Joyce worked for many years at the Ausable Free Clinic, Northern Lakes Community Mental Health, and Mercy Hospital. She was also a member of the March of Dimes and the American Business Women’s Association. She loved working outside in her flower beds, knitting, and watching her birds.
She raised and is survived by two wonderful sons, Anthony (Gail) Pickell of Sault Ste Marie, MI and James (Angela) Pickell of Grayling, MI; grandchildren, Nathan (Eva) Pickell and Jessica Pickell; step-grandchildren, Ashley Hoath and Areka Maki; step-great-grandchildren, Hadley and Axel Maki; and best friend, Renate Harwood. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, first husband James L Pickell, and second husband Donald Palmer.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, 10:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 12:00 PM at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Jackson, MI.
