Robert F. Hickey
Age 86, of Oscoda, MI, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas City, MI . Bob was born on December 31, 1937 in Detroit, MI to the late Charles and Lillian Hickey (nee Tracy). He grew up in Detroit and graduated from St. Theresa Catholic School. Bob served in the United States Marines for 6 years before being honorably discharged.
He married the former Joanne C. Kowalski on April 25, 1959 at Our Lady Gate of Heaven. They moved to Oscoda from Westland, MI in 1969. Together they owned an operated the Sears store in Oscoda for 13 years. Bob later worked in Real Estate until his retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Rotary Club. Bob enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and building.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne of Oscoda, MI; 3 children, son Robert “Mike” (Cathy) Hickey of Battle Creek, MI, Timothy (James Holmes) Hickey of Battle Creek, MI, daughter Traci (Jason) Behrens of Battle Creek, MI; 7 grandchildren, Travis, Robbie, Dalton, Collin, Michael, Kayla, Jason; 7 great-grandchildren, Brady, Madelynne, Wesley, Toby, Emily, Leah and Samantha. Bob is also survived by his brother James (Mary) Hickey of OH, brother Phillip (Nancy) Hickey of Utica, MI, sister Mary (Dennis) Church of Royal Oak, MI and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son John Hickey and brothers Charles and Patrick Hickey.
A memorial mass will announced soon and it will take place at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda, MI.
