Michael ‘Tank’ Phillips, 49, of Gladwin

Michael “Tank” Phillips, beloved resident of Gladwin, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the age of 49. He was born on July 19, 1974, to Dennis and Mary (Smith) Phillips in Midland. Tank graduated from Hemlock High School in 1993 and went on to a career in construction.

Tank earned his nickname for being the life of the party. Known for his vibrant personality and contagious energy, he brought joy and laughter wherever he went. Tank had a fondness for certain beverages, including Mt. Dew, Busch Lite, and Fireball, and was always eager to participate in any drinking game or activity.

He excelled in these activities, including darts, cornhole, and bowling, but his true passion was on the softball field. He eagerly anticipated the opening day of softball season each year and was known for his favorite chants heard all over the diamond.

He recently married the love of his life, Nicole Petit, and their partnership was a source of happiness and fulfillment for both of them. Their love was shared by their children, and special four legged companion: T.J. “Tank Jr.” His larger-than-life presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Tank leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, friendships, and a marriage that ended far too soon. The joy and laughter he brought to others will live on forever.

He is survived by his wife: Nicole Phillips; children: E.J. (Karlee), Wyatt, Jasmine, and Hayden; mother: Mary Phillips (Duane); siblings: April Phillips, Kyle (Denise) Phillips, Jared Phillips (Amanda), Laura (Randall) McDonald, Jennifer (Kevin) Frye. Special brothers Shane and Papi. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dennis Phillips.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements for Tank are entrusted to the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. To offer condolences and share memories of Tank, please visit www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome.com
