Judy Johnston, 81, of Beaverton

Judith Ann Johnston, aged 81, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024, at her home in Beaverton, Michigan. Born on September 23, 1942, in Lexington, Michigan, Judy was the beloved daughter of Nelson and Marie Cline (Crosman). She graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School in 1960 and later from Eastern Michigan University in 1965. Judy married her high school sweetheart, Roy Francis Johnston, and together they made Beaverton, Michigan, their home in 1971. As a dedicated educator, Judy taught second grade at Beaverton Rural Schools for 30 years before retiring to cherish precious moments with her family, relish sporting events, and bask in the serenity of her cottage in Lexington, Michigan. Celebrating 60 years of marriage on June 16, 2023, Judy’s commitment to her community extended to volunteering at the Beaverton Activity Center and serving on the board of the Gladwin County District Library.

She leaves behind her loving husband Roy Johnston, children: Jody (Anthony), Troy, Jeff (Stephanie), Jill, and Jennifer; grandchildren: Asher, Bailey, and Savannah Vissman; Grant (Kaylyn), Spencer, and Carter Johnston; Elizabeth Pardy; Layla and Andre Stewart. Judy is also survived by her sister Virginia Strausser.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Judith will take place on Sunday, March 17th, at the Beaverton Lions Community Center, 142 Saginaw Street, Beaverton, Michigan. A memorial service will be held from 1:00 to 1:30, with a luncheon to follow from 1:45 to 4:00. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Beaverton Activity Center or Gladwin County District Library are appreciated.
