June Brott, 65, of Gladwin

June C. (McKenney) Brott, a beacon of light and love to all who knew her, peacefully passed away in the comfort of her Gladwin home with her beloved family by her side on March 18, 2024. Born on February 24, 1959, in Petoskey, Michigan, to the late John and Cynthia (Reasoner) McKenney, June’s gentle spirit and faith-filled heart were evident from her earliest days.

A proud graduate of Petoskey High School in 1977, June’s thirst for knowledge and dedication to personal growth led her to further her education at Northern Central Michigan College, where she graduated in 1979. She then attended Central Michigan University, earning her BAA in Industrial Technology and Home Economics in 1982. Her passion for education was reflected in her career as a substitute teacher within the Gladwin Area Schools, where she touched the lives of countless students with her patience and wisdom.

June married the love of her life, Kevin L. Brott, on December 19, 1981, in Epsilon, Michigan. Together, they built a life filled with joy, raising three wonderful children: Wayne S. Brott, Ford C. Brott, and Porche’ H. Brott. June’s love for her family was as deep as it was unending, and she instilled in her children the values of kindness, integrity, and the importance of faith.

Her siblings, Scott (Cynthia) McKenney, Wayne (Sally) McKenney, David (Elsie) McKenney, and Margo (Nathan) Bolduc, will fondly remember June as a devoted sister. Her in-laws, Candace “Candy” (Roger) Fate and Pamela “Pam” (Robin) Brott-Smith, too, will cherish the memories of her thoughtful gestures and ever-present support.

June’s commitment to her community was evident through her involvement as a 4-H Leader and her active participation in the Gladwin Free Methodist Church. As a classroom volunteer, June offered her time and talents generously, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of encouragement. Her dedication to caring for the church and its congregation was a testament to her unwavering faith and desire to serve others.

A woman of many interests, June found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an exceptional baker, known for her delicious treats that brought comfort and happiness to family gatherings. Her home was a reflection of her artistic abilities, always immaculate and welcoming. In healthier times, she delighted in snowmobiling, embracing the thrill and beauty of Michigan winters. June’s love for the outdoors extended to her garden, where she cultivated beauty and life with the same care she bestowed upon her loved ones.

Sewing, restoring, and reclaiming furniture were more than just hobbies for June; they were expressions of her creative spirit and her ability to see the potential in the old and worn. Bird watching and spending time with God were sources of solace and inspiration for her, allowing her to connect with the natural world and her spiritual beliefs.

June will be remembered as a gentle soul, whose faith-filled life and thoughtful nature left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength will continue to live on through the lives of her family, friends, and those fortunate enough to have been touched by her grace.

As we bid farewell to June C. (McKenney) Brott, we take solace in knowing that her spirit will forever be a guiding light in the hearts of those she loved so dearly. Her memory will be cherished, her presence deeply missed, and her example of a life well-lived will remain an enduring inspiration.

A funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Free Methodist Church, Gladwin Michigan with Pastor Wayne McKenney presiding, with graveside services at 4:00 pm at the Curtis Cemetery, in Epsilon MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel and on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 10:00 am until the time of Service at the Church.  Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the New Dawn Shelter, Gladwin, Michigan.
