Matthew “Matt” J. Costello, age 65, of Houghton Lake passed away on Friday February 2, 2024 at The Villa of Rose City.
Matt was born on June 1, 1958 in Flint, Michigan to John and Marlene (Reinhart) Costello. He worked on the assembly line for General Motors for many years before retiring and moving to the Houghton Lake area. Matt was a former member of the Houghton Lake Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, kayaking, gardening, fly fishing and overall was happy to be doing anything that involved being outdoors.
Matt is survived by his daughter; Kristen (Brandon) Gabany, life partner; Cathy Miller, son-in-law; Matt (Courtney) Miller, grandchildren; Greyson, Madilynn, Saige and Alan, siblings; Jan (John) Harris, Mike (Debbie) Costello, Mari (Dave) Hempel and Mark (Brenda) Costello, several nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per Matt’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled at this time. Christler Funeral Home-Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com
