Mary Stuck

Mary (Webb) Stuck, 96, of Houghton Lake, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at The Brook of Houghton Lake.  Born on October 28, 1927, in a small house on Tower Hill Road, Mary was a life-long resident of Houghton Lake.  She was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Grice) Webb, who owned a meat market in The Village.  After graduating from Houghton Lake High School (the old Stone School) in 1945, she attended the Bay City Business College, working as a secretary upon her graduation.  Mary and Lethel W. “Lee” Stuck were united in marriage, in 1950, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Prudenville, MI, and they shared 63 loving years together.

Mary thrived in her vocation as a wife, mother, and grandmother.  Her family was always the joyful focus of her life.  Without ceasing, she loved and supported every family member with all her heart.  She enjoyed the friendship of many, including her tender caregivers at The Brook of Houghton Lake, and greeted even strangers with a warm smile.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Webb, husband, Lethel “Lee” Stuck, and brothers Benjamin and Thomas Webb.  She is survived by her children, Kathryn (Mike) Gagne, of Arkansas; Steven (Lorrie) Stuck and Michael (Joyce) Stuck, of Prudenville; Mary Lee (Joseph) Gartner, of Pennsylvania; brother William Webb, of Houghton Lake; sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Devoted to her faith, Mary was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Prudenville, previously active in the ladies’ altar society.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.  Visitation will take place at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School Endowment Fund.
