Bill Tompkins, 93, formerly of Grayling

William (Bill) Albert Tompkins, 93, of Traverse City, formerly of Grayling, passed away peacefully at home on February 27, 2024 with his family by his side. 

Bill was born on February 14, 1931 in Detroit, MI to the late William Virgil Tompkins and Ella May (Fanson) Tompkins. 

Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired Electrician and Electrical Engineer. He was a very talented artist, skilled in wood carving and turning bowls on his lathe. 

Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth Ann (Mitchell) Tompkins, Daughters; Betsy (Gordon) Johnson, Virginia (Duane) White, Son; Ed (Kim) Tompkins and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; William V. Tompkins and Ella Tompkins, Sisters; Joyce Jolley and Evelyn Kozloski and Daughter; Suzan Tompkins.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
