Susan ‘Bad Grandma’ Hartman, 72, of Roscommon

Susan “Bad Grandma” Gayle Hartman, age 72, of Roscommon, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in Roscommon.

Susie was born June 2, 1951, in Escanaba, Michigan, the daughter of Arthur and Mae (Flath) Erickson.

Susie worked as the Program Director at ROOC for over 30 years. She and her husband, John, Owned and operated S & J Excavating, from 1978 until her son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Nickie Hartman succeeded them in ownership in the spring of 2019. Everyone knew, Susie was a social butterfly. She loved to spend time with “the girls.” She also enjoyed “winning” at bingo. Susie was known for lighting up a room with her beautiful smile and feisty attitude. Susie will be remembered for the love she had for her grandkids. They were the center of her world and would never hesitate to tease or spoil them. Everyone will agree, when you were with Susie, there was never a dull moment.

Susie will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her son Wade (Nickie) Hartman; her grandchildren: Ryan (Alexis) Nagy, Chad (Kristen) Hartman, Kyle (Alex) Hartman; her great-grandson Easton Nagy; her son-in-law Paul Myer; sisters: Sharon (Dale) Demars and Donna Degnan; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and not to forget her fur baby, “Mac.”

Susie is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, John; daughter Jennifer; brothers: Al and Dennis; and sister, Judy.

Family and friends will gather from 2:00 PM until the time of Susie’s Celebration of Life at 5:00 PM, on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the CRAF Center, 606 Lake Street, Roscommon, Michigan 48653.

Susie’s family would like to extend a warm thank you to all the staff at Mission Point of Roscommon for treating her like the queen that she was. She loved all of you!
