It’s a family affair; Father, son busted for possession of meth

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY – On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at approximately 6:45 p.m.
troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Traverse City Post stopped a vehicle on M37 and Grouse Drive in Blair Township. The driver and passenger of the vehicle, who were father and son, were both placed under arrest for possession methamphetamine.

The driver, a 55-year-old man from Manton, was unable to provide a current registration for the vehicle.

There were also numerous empty beer cans inside the vehicle. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle.

The driver kept his right hand inside his pant pocket. The trooper asked him to remove his hand.

Inside his right pocket, the trooper found a silver keychain container with a white crystalline substance inside that tested positive for methamphetamine. He was also in possession of two hydrocodone pills not
prescribed to him.

The passenger, a 25-year-old man from Interlochen and son of the driver, was found to
be in possession of a small quantity of a white crystalline substance in a plastic bag that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Both father and son were lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail for possession methamphetamine pending arraignment. Troopers were assisted by deputies from the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s
Office.
