Mary LaPeer, 80, of Tawas City

Mary Jane LaPeer, 80, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2023 in the Iosco Medical Care Facility.  Mary Jane, the eldest daughter of Donald and Mary (Hampton) LaPeer, was born on April 24th, 1943, in Charlevoix, Michigan.  Her early years were primarily in East Jordan, Michigan.  Her last 6 years were spent as a patient at the Iosco Medical Care Facility.  A place she happily called her home.  She proudly took part in Special Olympics for many years.  She was active in the church choir and had her own business where she provided snacks for local businesses to sell.  She had a special connection with numerous staff at the Iosco County Medical Care Facility, especially with Mistie and Stacey.  The Cardinal Hospice staff were awesome in providing special care for her final days.  Mary Jane is survived by a sister, Kathleen Ewing of Maple Valley, Washington; brother/guardian, Richard LaPeer of Tawas City; sister-in-law, Angie LaPeer; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Jim, Gabe, Travis; and several great nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by a sister Donna.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to any Special Olympics organizations or the Iosco County Medical Care Facility.  Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13th, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City with Reverend Father Lawrence Boks officiating.  Mary Jane’s family will welcome friends at the funeral home Saturday before the service from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.  She will be laid to rest at the Calvary Cemetery in East Jordan where her parents are buried.  An online guest registry is available to leave a message of support for Mary Jane’s family at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
