Donald G. Burke Jr., age 85, of Prudenville passed away on Friday December 8, 2023, at Mission Point of Roscommon.
Don was born on January 18, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to Donald and Caroline (Miller) Burke. Don worked at the Ford Motor Company in the frame plant retiring as a supervisor after 35 years. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Dearborn Reserve Police Officers Unit. Don was a pilot and past president of the Roscommon Area Pilots Association. He volunteered for the EAA Young Eagles Program and other activities at Blodgett Memorial Airport. He was also a member of the Houghton Lake Sportsmen’s Club. Don enjoyed boating, fishing and flying, which was his main passion.
Don is survived by his children: Nancy (Steve) Dabrowski; Donald (Leslie) Burke; Sandra (Greg) Stassen; Tamara (Jeff) Stassen; Maureen (Jim) Pontious; Michael (Kathy) Burke; Timothy (Eileen) Burke; step-daughter Colleen (Eric) Fleetham; brother Gerald (JoJo) Burke and 18 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 32 years Sharon (Michaelson) Burke and his wife of 26 years Karan (Sheridan) Burke.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions in memory of Donald are asked to be directed to the Young Eagles program care of EAA Chapter 1580 at (5218 E.
