Scott Sigelko, 51, of Gladwin

One of the gentlest souls, Scott William Sigelko, passed from this world on November 9, 2023 after a year-long struggle with cancer. Scott was born in Midland Michigan to Wilmer and Elizabeth (Parrent) Sigelko on June 20, 1972, the youngest of 11 children. Scott attended primary school at Blessed Sacrament and St. Joseph Catholic Schools in Midland and Auburn Michigan, respectively. He graduated from Bay City Western High School in 1990. After attending Delta College, Scott began a happy 27 year career working for Howe Racing Enterprises in Beaverton, MI. Scott eventually moved to Gladwin, MI and there met and married the love of his life, Rebecca Lakin. Scott loved children-especially his stepson Joe and his many nieces and nephews-animals, model cars and trains, exotic trees, genealogy, and any really cool old stuff he found at thrift stores, junk yards or as he walked through the woods.

Scott is survived by his wife Rebecca (Lakin) Sigelko; his stepson Joseph Sobolewski; 3 sisters Jeanne (William) Keller, Charmaine (Bruce) Middaugh and Karen (Mark) McMahan; 6 brothers James (Julie) Sigelko, Thomas (Kimberley) Sigelko, Wayne (Nancy Didion) Sigelko, Duane (Mary Kay McDermott), Michael (Laurie) Sigelko and John (Kim) Sigelko. Scott was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Robert Sigelko.

Scott was especially blessed in this life to have many good friends including his Howe Racing family; Rick Yancer; Paul James and family; and Janet Nettleton and family. He was also blessed by the presence of children he and Rebecca mentored including James Kirtley, Levi Curtis, Lindsay Fitzsimmons, Patrick James Callahan and Austin Carr.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of My Michigan Health and Mid-Michigan Hospice for the tender care they provided during this past year.

A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2024. Details will be published ahead of time in the Gladwin Record.

Memorial donations can be made to the Gladwin Humane Society.
