Roland ‘Duane’ Nimke, 88, of Grayling

Roland “Duane” Nimke, 88, of Grayling, MI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, November 6, 2023.

Duane was born on December 24, 1934 in Ann Arbor, MI to C. Julius and Florence Irene (Brown) Nimke. He was a graduate of Ann Arbor High School. He attended Western Michigan University and The University of Minnesota. Duane married Josephine M. Klepack on August 8, 1959 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Plymouth, MI.

Duane is survived by his wife of 64 years Jo Nimke of Grayling, MI; father of Robert C. (Michelle) Nimke of Higgins Lake, MI and Christina M. Nimke of Grayling, MI; proud grandfather of Alex James “AJ” Brackenbury, Collin (Jazmyn) Nimke, Laura (Zach) Wolcott, Peyton Nimke, and Hunter Ventline; and great grandfather of Amelia Gracelynn Nimke and Gabriella Ann Nimke.

Duane is preceded in death by brother James Nimke, sisters Jean Shrope and Phyllis Peters, and parents CJ and Florence.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 9:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Grayling, MI. Interment will take place in the spring at Elmwood Cemetery in Grayling, MI.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Duane to St Mary Catholic Church. Condolences can be shared with Duane’s family at www.sorensonlockwood.com.
