Gary Blades, 80, of Gladwin

Gary Lee Franklin Blades, passed away on October 29, 2023, at Brookdale in Midland. He was born on December 5, 1942, in Gladwin County to Lloyd “Mike” F. Blades and Betty E. Onweller, On November 12, 1960, Gary married the love of his life, Merry A. Dunne, in Beaverton. Their enduring love and partnership were a testament to the strength of their bond, carrying them through the many joys of life.

Gary was a dedicated and hardworking individual throughout his life. He worked as a Crane Operator for Milbocker & Sons in Allegan. He was a proud member of Operator Engineers Local 324, and his colleagues held him in high regard for his professionalism and expertise.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Merry, and their three children: Michael (Becky) Blades, Teresa Blades, and Thomas (Bethany) Blades. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Brandi, Henry, Chandler, Jamey, Jett, Jaydon, Jack, and Tucker, as well as his great-grandchildren: Noah, Jaydyn, Jace, River, Caleb, Channing and one more on the way and great-great grandchild: Elias. He is also survived by his brother, Larry (Mary) Blades, and leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd “Mike” F. Blades and Betty E. Onweller.

Funeral services to celebrate Gary’s life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Dale United Methodist Church. A visitation will take place on Friday, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Beaverton.

Gary Blades was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
