David Haupt, 72, of Lewiston

February 19, 1951 – November 16, 2023

David Haupt of Lewiston, Michigan, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

David was born in Detroit, Michigan.  He worked in telecommunications throughout his life. Growing up, he and his family enjoyed traveling to Deer Park, located in the Upper Peninsula, where they spent summers outdoors fishing, looking for agates, and taking in the beautiful scenery Nature had to offer. David spent his time boating, hiking, trout fishing, and looking for eagles. His hobbies included airplanes, trains, and flying kites. David met the love of his life, Mary, 12 years ago. They got married, settled in Lewiston, and enjoyed their summers in Deer Park together. David dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; teaching them to fish, taking them on ATV rides, and spending time with them on the lake with all of his water toys for them to enjoy.

David is survived by his wife Mary Haupt, his mother Phylis Haupt, his children: Eric Haupt, Adam Haupt (Grace), Michelle McFadden (Michael), and Jodi Gordon; his sisters: Linda Joseph (Thomas), Cathy Chenard (Frank), and Marianne Haupt; his brothers: Steven Haupt (Judy) and Andrew Haupt (Danielle). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Michael Haupt, Courtney Lindstrom, Charla Grim (Nicholas), Rachelle Wagner (Jared), Cara Larson (Matthew), and Matthew Wagner; his great-grandchildren: Benjamin Wagner, Ryley Wagner, Lake Wagner, Mason Grim, and Garrison Grim; and his special neighbors and friends: Todd & Lois Bayston, Richard & Kathy Robinson, Dave & Jeannie Stouffer, and Donna Clark; and his dog Callie. David was preceded in death by his father Michael Haupt; his brothers: Kenny Haupt, Phil Haupt, and Chris Haupt; his sister Pam Enright (Tom); and his great-grandson Emmett Grim.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date.

These arrangements were handled by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI.
