Alvera L. Hinkley, age 93, of Turner, MI, passed away surrounded by her family on November 19, 2023, at her daughter’s residence. She was born to John and Domenica (Ozzelo) on March 26, 1930. She married her husband, Robert Hinkley on June 27, 1953, at Our Lady Catholic church of Turner.
Alvera worked at Bopp-Busch in Au Gres, MI, as a press operator for 26 years. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Altar Society of Whittemore. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, and crocheting. Alvera also specialized in making homemade raviolis and cinnamon rolls.
Alvera is survived by her children; John Hinkley, Bonnie (Leonard) Svanberg, Mike (Lisa) Hinkley, and James (Gwen) Konenski; grandchildren, Brent (Kacy), Brandy (Don), Bobbi, Dennis, Leonard (Michelle), Eric, Brittnee (Kyle), Roger (Heather), Kellsie, Lynsey (Steve), Stephanie, Michael (Katie), Jonah (Amber), Heather, and Hunter (Sophia); 25 great grandchildren, sister Mary Giori, brother in law, Bernie Lorenz, sister in law, Perscilla Giori; and special friend Lori.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert of 55 years; brothers James, John, Charlie, Dominick, Leo Paul, Leo; sister, Daisy Lorenz; sister in laws, Wanda Giori and Katheryn Giori; son, Roger Hinkley, daughter in laws, Vickie Hinkley and Karen Hinkley; grandchildren, Jason Pace and Lexie Muckenthaler.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Buresh Funeral Home in Twining, MI. An additional time of visitation will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Whittemore, MI from 10:00 am – 11:00 am with the funeral beginning after visitation. Burial will take place following the funeral at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Whittemore, Memorial contributions can be made to St. James Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
