Thomas Patrell, 84, of East Tawas

Thomas Allen Patrell

Age 84, of East Tawas, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023, with his family by his side. Tom was born in Detroit, Michigan, on February 12, 1939, to the late Joseph and Stella Patrell. He grew up in the Detroit Area and was a proud graduate of Redford High School. Following high school, Tom went on to attend trade school as an apprentice for General Motors. He learned the art of being a wooden model maker for the automotive company, and then went on to spend 30 years working for them until his retirement in 1989. In 1961, he married the love of his life, Mary Jane Leslie. The two were married in Detroit, Michigan, and spent the next 62 years together happily. Following retirement, Tom and Mary traveled in their motor home to 49 of 50 states in the USA, along with going to Canada and Mexico too. While the couple loved to be at home in East Tawas as much as possible, they did begin to spend some time every year in Sebastian, Florida. Aside from his love for traveling, some of Tom’s hobbies included snowmobiling, golfing, watching sports, and spending quality time with his family. Tom was a hard-working man that was always on the go, and he will be missed dearly.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Patrell; children, Chris (Roseann) Patrell and Karen (Neil) Yake; grandchildren, Claire (Haydon) Smith, Eric Patrell, Jessica (Travis Teter) Johnson, and Sarah (Hans) George; step-grandchild, Bryan (Rebecca) Yake; nine great grandchildren; sister, Louise Hand; nephew, David (Sherry) Patrell; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his sister, Barb Wisnewski.

Per Tom’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will plan to have a celebration of life at a later date. You may leave an online condolence at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
