Milo Johnson, 87, of Whittemore

Milo Lee Johnson, age 87, of Whittemore, passed away peacefully at home on October 11, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.

He is survived by his loving children; Daryl (Carla) Johnson, Harold (Marsha) Johnson, Rita (Brett) Vukasin, Duane Johnson, Theresa Stull, Lisa (Frank) Vukasin, Alan (Christine) Johnson, and Lisa Ann Green. Milo was a loving grandfather to 31 grandchildren and 59 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Gail, his parents, John Johnson, and Kathrine (Ranger) Johnson.

Milo was born and raised in Hale. In 1954 he married Gail Harsch, and together they raised seven children and one adopted daughter. They were happily married for 66 years.

In 1955 they moved to Flint, MI where Milo worked for General Motors on the assembly line for 35 years. After retiring in 1990, they moved back to their farm in Whittemore, where Milo purchased a sawmill and started to farm.

Milo will always be remembered as the man that liked to work! If anyone knows him, he has worked harder in his retirement years than most people have worked their entire lives. He enjoyed being busy and always having something to do, just about as much as he loved collecting tractors!

Shortly after moving back to the area, he started to help with the Iosco County Fair and the Pioneer Power Antique Club of West Branch. He spent countless hours with his wife helping both organizations for many years.

Per Milo’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held in June 2024. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Milo Johnson to the Iosco County Fairgrounds.

Milo, your work is done.
