Jim Valentino, 72, of Higgins Lake

James Dennis Valentino, age 72, of Higgins Lake, died peacefully, on Monday, October 9, 2023, at his home in the presence and comfort of his family.

Jim was born January 19, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Geno and Josephine (Ryan) Valentino.

Jim married Judy Linnan on October 10, 2013, on Mackinac Island, Michigan.

Jim attended Detroit Redford High School. He graduated from Specs Howard School of Broadcasting. He was a radio personality known as, “Hank James,” on WKCQ, in Saginaw Valley of McDonald Broadcasting. Jim owned a small business called “Y Not Handyman,” at Higgins Lake, and was very proud of the work he provided. It was very important to his customers to have him there to help. Jim loved to go snowmobiling. He enjoyed going camping with Judy. Jim loved his cat “Goldie.”

Jim will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy, of 10 years of marriage; son, Anthony “Tony” (Allison Nester) Valentino of Higgins Lake; step-son, Jeff Guethlein of Plant City, Florida; step-daughter, Sharon (Tim) Albergo of Taylor, Michigan; step-son, William (Danielle) Albergo of Farmington, Michigan; grandchildren: Izzie, Dakota, Taylor, Cora, Michael, Timothy, Liam, Everleigh; sister, Natalie Jean Valentino of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; brother, Ronald Paul (Valerie) Valentino of Howell, Michigan; brother, Donald Peter of Traverse City, Michigan; Julia Ann (Greg) Weber of Centennial, Colorado; brother, Ralph John (Joan) Valentino of Crossville, Tennessee; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends will gather from 9:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 7612 West Higgins Lake Drive, Roscommon, Michigan 48653.

Jim will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery, Lyon Township, Michigan.

If so desired, the family prefers memorial contributions be made in Jim’s name to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter, 1110 Short Drive, Prudenville, Michigan 48651; or, to the Donor’s Choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
