Helen Meier, 88, of Atlanta

Mrs. Helen Leone Meier, 88 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of family on October 2, 2023. She was welcomed into Heaven with outstretched arms by her late husband, Larry. Helen was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on May 28, 1935, to Fred and Leona (Anderson) Nast. She has resided in Atlanta since the late 1950’s. She was a past member of both the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Big Rock Congregational Church. She played the organ at Bethlehem Lutheran for many years and played for funerals and weddings at other churches. She was currently a member at Johannesburg Christian Church. Helen loved violets, cross stitching, and hunting. She is and will be deeply missed.

Helen is survived by her children, Cindy (Kevin) Seaman of Minnesota; Violet (Pete) Buckler of Atlanta; Melody Young of Atlanta; Crystal Meier of Atlanta; Harold (Leigh) Meier of Chugiak, Alaska; Marianne Meier of Atlanta; Matthew Meier of Atlanta; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Dave Nast of Michigan; Don (Ruthann) Nast of Georgia; Janet (Ron) Johnson of Illinois; Lori (Vern) Ivarson of Florida; and sister-in-law, Gloria Schulze of Hillman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Leona Nast; husband, Larry; and son-in-law, Gerry Young.

Funeral services for Mrs. Meier will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Johannesburg Christian Church, Pastor Tim Thompson officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow services at Briley Township Cemetery, Atlanta where Helen will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Johannesburg Christian Church in memory of Helen and can be made by clicking the below link.
