Joyce Burgess, 87, of Oscoda

Joyce Ann Burgess, age 87, of Oscoda, MI, formerly of Muskegon, MI passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI with her family by her side. She was born on November 27, 1935 in Detroit, MI to the late Thomas and Hazel (Wright) Evans. Joyce graduated from Redford High School in Detroit, MI. She married the love of her life, Billie F. Burgess on June 19, 1956. Joyce spent her entire life serving and caring for others. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who truly poured her heart into raising her family. Joyce was a member of the Church of Christ, where she enjoyed teaching children, studying scriptures and growing in her walk with the Lord. She truly loved her church family and her many roles within the church throughout the years. Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Billie; children, Peggy Jones, Larry (Terri) Burgess, Susan Ray and Sandra (Jon) Thomas; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by 4 siblings, Mildred, Martha, Thomas and Wilma. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 2 PM at the Church of Christ in Oscoda, MI. Interment will take place in Oscoda Pinecrest Cemetery.
