Roy Syversen, 86, of Gladwin

Roy Karsten Syversen of Gladwin, MI passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023. He was born in Detroit, MI on January 21, 1937, to Lauritz and Avilda (Nielsen) Syversen. Roy graduated from Garden City High School and joined the Army in 1960. After serving his country for 2 years, he worked as a maintenance specialist at American Airlines, retiring in 1996. Roy married Virginia Wilson O’Connor on July 31, 1971. He enjoyed woodworking, restoring old cars, hunting, and fishing. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Virginia, his children, Eric Steven Syversen of Commerce Township, MI, Laurie McGovern of Milford, DE; grandchildren, Amber (Scott) Fouty, Trevor McGovern, Amelia Syversen, Alec Syversen; great grandchildren, Oliver Fouty and Liam Fouty; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Harry (Ardis) Syversen of St. Claire Shores, Arne (Charlotte) Syverson of Livionia; and sister, Erma (Don) Baker of Clearwater,FL.  A Celebration of Life will be held on August 15, 2023, with a visitation hour from 11:00am to 12:00 pm and a service at 12:00.
