Our gracious Lord took Esther Mae Rumminger, age 103, on July 30, 2023. She was born in Gladwin, Michigan January 13, 1920, to Helen and Charles Searfoss, along with two older sisters, Gladys Pope and Laura Morris. The family moved to Midland, Michigan, when she was two years old. She graduated from Midland High School in 1938. She then married Ralph F. Boman, June 11, 1938, in Gladwin. They had four children. Ralph preceded her in death, February 13, 1971. She worked as a secretary for Schwager’s Department Store for 20 years. She then married Richard Rumminger on October 24, 1972, in Gladwin, Michigan. They lived in Houghton Lake and spent winters in Winter Haven, Florida. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2009.
She moved back to Gladwin in 2012 to be closer to family. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where she was a member of their Crocheting Club making prayer shawls. She loved crocheting, crafts, crossword puzzles, and her family.
She is also preceded in death by her children, Lee Ann Cronk, Teddy Boman, Danny Boman, and William Boman, and 1 great-grandchild.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Amy Jo (Tom)) Schmidt, Thomas (Kelly Hayes) Cronk, Susan (Fred Leeck) Brown, Jodi (Chris) Wiggins, Dan (Kristie) Lee, Denise Boman, and Matthew (Tori Anderson) Boman; 15 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren; daughters in law, Patti Boman-Lee and Kim Boman, and a stepson Eugene Rumminger. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who are so special to her.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Gladwin, Michigan at 10 am. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, from 2 pm until 8 pm at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Gladwin Chapel. She will be buried at Highland Cemetery next to her husband Ralph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Gladwin Chapel.
