Norman Eugene Schrader of Twining, MI., formerly of Port Huron, MI, passed away peacefully on July 24th, 2023, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 30, 1938, in Port Huron, MI. to the late Frank and Evelyn (Amey) Schrader. Norman graduated from Port Huron High School in 1956 and overall was a 40-year resident of that area. He was a man of many talents and skills. He worked for the Port Huron Paper, but eventually settled in northern Michigan and married the love of his life, Carol Jean (Henderson) Schrader on December 15, 1978, in West Branch, MI. He and Carol worked side by side for many years operating the Prescott Bar. Norman was also a public-school bus driver and truck driver for Swanson Excavating. Driving a dump truck for Swanson was one of his favorite jobs. He belonged to the Skidway Lake Moose Lodge. In Fort Gratiot, MI., he coached little league baseball and later on men’s softball in Prescott. Norman was known and loved by so many, but more than anything else he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Norman is survived by his children, Robert (Sherry) Archibald, Jodi (Gary) Moss, Timothy (Patty) Schrader, Kathi (Steve) Gossman, Sherri (John) Pavlik, Paul (Tricia) Schrader and Vicki (Rick) Galloway; sister, Joann Tomlinson; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Norman is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol (2017); brother, Billy Jack; sister, Donna Koehn; grandchildren, Melissa MacLean, and Billy McAllister.
Per Norman’s wishes cremation has taken place and the family will have a celebration of life at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 30th at the Clayton Township Cemetery located on Reed Road in Sterling, MI.
