Doug Compton, 65, of National City

Douglas J. Compton, age 65, of National City, MI and formerly of Oxford and Clawson, MI passed away at his home on Monday, May 8, 2023. He was born in Highland Park, MI to the late Robert and Janet Compton (Delicato). Doug graduated from Warren Mott High School and later attended trade school. He served in the United States Army and later the Army National Guard.

Doug worked in tool and die field for several years for Quasar Industries and RCO Engineering before co-owning DJD Manufacturing which is still going strong today. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, pontoon boat rides and living out in the country. Doug married his wife Catherine on March 14, 1997 in Bloomfield Hills, MI. They moved up north in 2019 and Doug really enjoyed his time up here while working for his company from his home as an estimator.

He is survived by his wife Cathie of National City, MI; 3 children, Lori Compton, Mari (Erik) Engelhardt, Wayne Compton, all of Massachusetts; 3 step children, Sarah Carpenter of Chicago, IL, Melanie Carpenter of Oxford, MI and Debra Carpenter of Oxford, MI. Doug is also survived by his brother Duane (Laurel) Compton of FL; his grandchildren; Allie, Natasha, Ethan, Ryan, Jack, Charlotte, Elizabeth, Graham and Marshall and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Gokey, nephew Michael Gokey and nephew Chad Compton.
