Mary Ann Stano, age 88, of Houghton Lake, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
Mary was born April 28, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Claude P. and Rosalie M. (Monte) Hubbard.
Mary and her ex-husband, Thomas W. Stano Sr., had six children before she returned to school to become a Registered Nurse. She spent many years doing a job she loved, as a labor and delivery nurse, before retiring to Houghton Lake, Michigan. In retirement she enjoyed traveling with friends, knitting, her numerous house plants, and her church community.
Mary will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her sister, Linda (Robert) Murphy; and children: Thomas W. Stano, Jr. (Pensacola), Jay Guaresimo (St. Clair Shores), Patrick Stano (Phoenix), Rosanne Major (Houghton Lake), and Susan (Thomas) Greco (New Baltimore); daughter-in law, Tish Stano; and Grandchildren: Amanda, Lyndsie, T.J., Kristen, George, Brianna, Haylie, Zachary, Megan, and Matthew. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Andrew Stano; her brothers: Richard, William, and James Hubbard; and her sons-in-law: George Major and Andy Guaresimo.
Mary’s family has chosen to remember her privately at this time, but a celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
