Edward ‘Sonny’ Robinson II, 57, of Grayling

Edward Charles “Sonny” Robinson II passed away on March 3rd, 2023 at the age of 57.

He was born in Monroe, MI on September 1st, 1965. At a young age his family moved to Grayling, MI where he has resided, raising his family in the community. Sonny was an avid woodsman, hunter and fisherman. He learned these skills early on as a child working with his dad to help gather firewood to sell, supporting their family growing up in the woods of Northern Michigan.

Sonny spent his whole life living off the land with his latest whitetail harvest, a 6 point and spike horn buck in the fall rifle season. After a hard days work, you could find Sonny sitting around the bonfire with his kids and grandchildren enjoying the evening with laughs and stories. Sonny enjoyed visiting with his grand babies as much as he could and spoiling them like a grandfather should. Sonny would pop in randomly at his sister’s houses to surprise them for a visit of conversation and coffee or Natty Lights.

He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Robinson, granddaughter Hermione Smith, mother Ethel ‘Sue’ Robinson, father Edward Robinson, and older Brother James Michael “Buddy” Robinson.

Sonny is survived by his children: Charles Robinson III, Heather (Nick) Smith, Joshua (significant other Ashley) Robinson, Autumn (Angel) Copenhaver and Jacob Robinson. His grandchildren: Talen Smith, Isabelle Robinson, Annabelle Robinson, Nevaeh Robinson, Ranger Copenhaver, River Copenhaver, Axel Copenhaver. And his two sisters: Robin Miller and Dianne Masella.

A memorial will be held later where all will be invited. The family thanks you for your condolences and support at this unexpected time of need.

Arrangements entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
