Bob Bishoff Jr., 72, of Roscommon

Robert Lee Bishoff, Jr., age 72, of Roscommon, died on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, in Grayling, Michigan, in the presence and comfort of his family.

Bob was born August 31, 1950, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Robert, Sr. and Harriet (Scott) Bishoff.

Bob married Barbara Ann Blakeslee on October 9, 1970, in Kentwood, Michigan. He attended Kelloggsville High School, where he played football and ran track. Bob was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He served his country at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington from 1970-1974. Bob attended Grand Valley State College from 1975-1978. He accomplished degrees in Natural History Interpretation and Archeology. Bob went to work for Grand Rapids Testing for 8 years. He then went to work for the Department of Natural Resources in the Geology Division for 33 years, from 1986-2013. Bob attended Roscommon Baptist Church for many years.

Bob had many hobbies over the span of his lifetime. He enjoyed many things. Bob loved photography, hunting and fishing, bow hunting, silhouette shooting, muzzle loading, hiking and bicycling, canoeing, bird watching, motorcycle riding, wood carving and leather tooling. He had a love for cars, and especially enjoyed geo-caching. Bob was known for having loaded his own bullets. He even took the time to build his own muzzle loading rifle and pistol.

Bob will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barb, of 52 ½ years of marriage; daughter, Brenda (Jason) Denton; grandkids: Haley, Easton, Emma and Kate; as well as many friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends will gather from 11:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, 143 Lake Street, Roscommon, Michigan 48653. Pastor Erikson Aldridge will be officiating.

Bob will be laid to rest in the spring at Beaver Creek Township Cemetery, Michigan.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Bob’s name to Brain Support Network, P.O. Box 7264, Menlo Park, CA. 94026

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
