Stan Ulman, 89, Tawas Township

Stanley Grant Ulman of Tawas Township, passed away on February 2, 2023 at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital (Tawas).

Stan was born to John and Clara (Proper) Ulman on November 14, 1933 at their homestead property on Lorenz Road. With the exception of the last two years at Medilodge, Stan resided on the Lorenz Road property his entire life.

Stan worked at US Gypsum in Alabaster for over 31 years, retiring in 1995. He loved to hunt, play cards, watch Tiger Baseball and drive the back roads of Michigan. Stan remained a bachelor until May 20, 1995, when at the age of 61 he married Jean Marie Pockrandt. They had many happy years together, but their time was too short, as Jean passed away in 2007.

Stan was a wonderful brother, especially to his older sister Alma, who he visited every day until she passed in 2017.

In addition to his wife and parents, Stan was preceded in death by all 12 of his siblings: Floyd, Helen (Luplow), Oran, Bernice, Carl, Alma (Lange), John, Marvin, Hazel (Sabin), Albert, Alberta, and Arlene. Stan leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially Chet and Marie (Proper) Smyczynski and longtime friend’s, Tom Coyle and Gene Sanker.

Per Stan’s wishes, no funeral will take place. Interment will be in Memory Gardens in his parents plot, on Monday February 6th, 2023 at 2:30 pm, where family & friends are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Stan’s memory to Emanuel Lutheran Church & School 300 North St W, Tawas City, MI 48763.

Lovingly written by his great-niece, Greta Anschuetz.
