Lamont Kohn, 91, of Rose City

Lamont D. Kohn, age 91, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Memorial Healthcare Hospital in Owosso, MI. He was born on March 26, 1931 in Flint, MI to Charles and Helen (Reetz) Kohn. Lamont lived in Rose City, MI for his entire life.

Lamont’s cat, Trapper, gave him much joy in his later years. Lamont loved riding his snowmobile and motorcycle, but his favorite mode of transportation was his 4 wheeler, which he called his “buggy.” He was also an avid outdoorsman. Lamont always liked to deer hunt using both bow and rifle, as well as fishing and trapping.

Lamont is survived by nieces, Laura (Steve) Zyber, Teresa (Bob) Krieger and Trudy Reetz; 6 great nieces and nephews and 6 great,great nieces and nephews; cousins Norman and Janet Reetz, John Reetz and many, many other relatives and countless friends who were all very special to him. He was very proud of his family and friends. Lamont looked forward to spending time with family and friends including Mike and Karen Graham and Terry and Amy Cornman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Dolehanty, and brother-in-law Harold.

In remembrance of Lamont please consider a donation to the Rose City Area Historical Society, P.O. Box 736, Rose City, 48654. Lamont always enjoyed reminiscing about the events and information given in the newsletter.

Donations can also be made to Memorial Healthcare Foundation, LTC Activities, 826 W. King St. Owosso, MI 48867. Lamont made a small log cabin that included all the outdoor activities he enjoyed. He proudly gifted it to his great nephew Brian Reetz.

The family is grateful to Memorial Healthcare LTC. Their care for Lamont was exceptional.

Per Lamont’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
