Mrs. Annabel Louise “Corky” Roberts died on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. She was 88 years old. Corky never stopped fighting her illness and no matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, she stayed strong. Since retiring from Moore Business Forms in Akron, Ohio and moving to Lewiston in 2000, she was involved in various community organizations- the Lewiston Lioness Club, Lewiston Moose Family Center, Northern Michigan Country Line Dancers, Lewiston Area Historical Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Friends of the Lewiston Library, Elk Country Animal Shelter, and various other clubs and activities. She belonged to two quilt guilds and was a member of the Lewiston Congregational Church.
She was born on June 15, 1934 in Jackson, Michigan to James and Nellie Wightman. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1952. She met her future husband, William A. “Bill” Roberts, who lived across the street from her, when she was only 5 years old. They married in 1952, and they were married for 57 years, Bill died in 2009.
Corky was a talented classical pianist, an avid reader, and loved to quilt. She was always active and enjoyed bowling, golfing, and volunteering to support various charity functions. One of her favorite activities recently was selling Lewiston Lioness Lion Quilt Raffle tickets annually.
She is survived by her five children, Susan (Kenneth) Kline, Cynthia (Robert) Arrowood, William J. Roberts, Edward A. Roberts, and Thomas (Sheree) Roberts. She has seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. Her family grieves her loss but takes comfort in knowing that Bill and Corky are together again.
Services for Corky will be held at the Lewiston Congregational Church on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM. A celebration of life will be held the same day at 4:00 PM at the Lewiston Moose Family Center. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lewiston Lions Club at PO Box 414, Lewiston, Michigan 49756 in memory of Corky.
