Michael David Nowak, age 80, of Roscommon, died on Saturday, January 7, 2023, in West Branch, Michigan.
Mike was born March 14, 1942, in Cedar Springs, Michigan, the son of George and Lenore (Bruce) Nowak.
Mike was a trooper for the Michigan State Police from 1967 to 1992. He became a deputy for the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Department from 1992 until 1996 and will be remembered for helping to implement the 911 system for Roscommon County. In 1997, he went to work for First Armor in West Branch until retiring in 2009. Mike was a member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church in Grayling, Michigan. Mike enjoyed golfing and playing cards. For the last 30 years, he enjoyed owning and operating the family Christmas tree farm.
Mike will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Janice; children: Troy Nowak of Cleveland, Ohio, and Carla (David) Peters of Portland, Oregon; grandchild, Nixie; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leonard and sister, Janice.
Mike will be laid to rest in Solon Township Cemetery, Cedar Springs, Michigan.
