Helen Jarboe, 94, of Lipton

Helen Elizabeth (Frey) Jarboe, age 94, passed away at her home in Lupton, Michigan, on Sunday, December 18, 2022. She was born in 1928 in Flint, Michigan to Frank J. (Frej) and Antonina (Maziarz) Fry and graduated from Flint Northern High School and Eastern Michigan University.

She married Lloyd A. Jarboe in 1949 and together they raised seven children. In 1975 she and the family moved to Warren, Michigan where they lived until Lloyd’s retirement from General Motors. They then resided on Rifle Lake in Lupton, Michigan, spending the winters in Plant City, Florida.

Helen was active in guilds at St. John Vianney Church in Flint and served as a substitute teacher in Flint and Warren schools. She and Lloyd enjoyed camping with the children and, after the children were grown, square dancing. Their winter home in Plant City was in a square dance community where they were in charge of the dance program and Helen wrote and produced a weekly newsletter for the community.

Helen is survived by her sons Mark (Patricia), David, Carl (Elizabeth), Paul (Suzanne), Thomas (Marie) and Patrick (Corrbie) and her daughter, Kay Marie, 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, her parents, Frank and Antonina, her brothers John, Henry and Julian, her sister, Rose Edwards and her daughter-in-law, Sharon.

Helen was kind, strong, intelligent, witty, and practical and she will be greatly missed by her family and by all who knew her.

A Mass of Intention will be held at 8:15 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2022 at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church, 157 Lake Shore Rd., Grosse Pointe Farms, MI.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date with interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
