Richard Dew, 88, of Fairview

Richard H. Dew of Fairview, MI  1934 – 2022

Richard Harry Dew, age 88, passed away at home with his wife by his side, on Friday, November 25, 2022.   He lived in Fairview, MI his entire life, building a home for his family a half a mile from where he was raised.   Literally building it room by room with his wife Helen as their family expanded.  They lived there over 60 years until heating with wood became too much of a chore and they moved to the AuSable Valley Apartments.

Richard was born the oldest child of Harry A. and Margaret A. Eagle Dew

Surviving him is his wife of nearly 68 years, Helen Carol, daughter Debra J. Dew, son Elliott C. (Deborah) Dew, son Farley D. (Denise) Dew, daughter Jennifer M. (Michael) Lillie and daughter Krystal K. Yoder, granddaughters Misty C. Dew, Jennifer L. Walker, Lacy A. (Tom) Hager, Emily J. (Josh) Lenneman, and Chelsea Q. Evans, grandsons Alexander E. (Tonya) Dew and Ashton M. (Jennifer) Evans, beloved great-grandchildren and his sisters Nancy G. (the late Carl) Slosser, Peggy (the late Kenneth) Smith, Gloria J. (Bill) Abbe, Lynn (Terri) Pahl, and Darlene D. (Larry) Diller.

Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a son, Anthony R. Dew

Richard was raised on a dairy farm and later worked with his father at Dew Forest Products.  He then spent almost 20 years at the Oscoda County Road Commission where he retired from in November, 1996.

He enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, day casino trips, driving around the family property in the Dogg, traveling the U.P. with his wife, bad Dad jokes, garage sales and buying used lawn mowers, ending up with an entire fleet of them.

Visitation was held at Lashley Funeral Home on Monday, November 28, 2022 with funeral immediately following, with Pastor Christopher Slosser officiating. A luncheon was served in the basement of the Fairview Mennonite Church following the service. No graveside services will be held at this time.
