Mr. Leonard “Morgan” James Risch, 81 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at home with his loving wife at his side on November 12, 2022.
Leonard was born in Dearborn, Michigan to the late, Sylvester and Anna (Domaszewski) Risch on December 14, 1940.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a military police officer.
On August 23, 1968, he married Carol (Godek) Risch and together the couple created beautiful memories for 54 years before his passing. They have resided in Lewiston for the last 22 years.
Leonard was a member of various fraternal organizations including the Lewiston Moose, American Legion Post 198, and the Lewiston Sportsman’s League. He loved anything outdoors and was passionate about both fishing and hunting. He loved to spend time hunting with his brothers and Carol on their property each year and was very gifted at making his own venison sausage and sauerkraut. He enjoyed salmon and walleye charter fishing with his friend and ice fishing in the winters.
Leonard was a talented master carpenter and built his homes in Pittsfield Township and Lewiston. He loved to sing and had a great bass voice. Along with three of his best friends, they formed a singing group called “The Concepts” and performed with The Four Seasons at a concert. He always enjoyed seeing and spending time with all his family, which included his many siblings, nieces, and nephews whether it was formal gatherings or visits here in the north. Leonard was a kind gentleman who was loved and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Risch of Lewiston; siblings, Sally (Tom) Courtright; Virginia Rosko; Mary Ellen Risch all of Allen Park; Karen (Roger) Bastien of Riverview; Dale Risch of Brownstown; Carl Risch of Alger; Edward (Kathleen) Risch of Lewiston; Paul (Donna) Risch of Allen Park; Betty Kasper of Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Anna Risch, and sister, Jeanette.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place and the family has chosen to remember Leonard privately at this time. A memorial service will be held later in the Spring.
