Mary Elizabeth Walker, age 84, of Roscommon, died peacefully at home on Friday, November 18, 2022.
Mary was born September 13, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Louis and Celia (Koehler) Char.
Mary married Thomas “Mike” Walker on February 15, 1958, in Dearborn, Michigan.
Mary’s passion was her family and worrying about each, and every one of them. She enjoyed serving others and keeping up with family. In her early years, she worked at Sears, DeSoto, Alexander Hamilton, St. Hubert Parish, and Roscommon State Bank. She became a faithful Catholic before marriage, and served her Church as a Eucharistic Minister, and Greeter. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir. Mary also enjoyed painting with oils. She was known for gifting many family members with her beautiful paintings.
Mary will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her beloved husband, Mike; children: Mike (Beth Barber) Walker of Roscommon, Patricia (Scott) Harmon of Sparta, Kristine Walker-Smith of Roscommon; grandchildren: Mike (Kristen) Walker, Matt (Sophie) Walker, Laura (Tyler) Watters; Christopher (Brittany) Barber, Emily (Dan McGinnis) Barber, MaryBeth (Kyle) Cambre, Kaela Lundstrom, Mark Joseph, Hudson Parrent, Moriah Parrent, Leah (Alan) Hurst, Marion Parrent, Andrew (Chelsea) Harmon, Emma (Kevin) Sinclair, TJ (Alexa Blanchard) Gosselin; great-grandchildren: Griffin, Gibson, Matty, Miles, George, Vito, Autumn, Gunner, Loretta, Sadie, Vivienne, Eloise, and Odin; as well as several greatly-loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Louis Char; beloved sister-in-law, Patricia Char; and son-in-law, Jim Smith.
Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 26, 2022, with an hour of gathering prior to the Mass, at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 7612 West Higgins Lake Drive, Roscommon, Michigan 48653. Celebrant is The Reverend Bernard Tyler.
