Robert Gene Thompson, aka “Junk Yard Bob”, passed away suddenly on November 27, 2022, at the age of 67.
Bob was born November 24,1955, to Robert Gene and Lois Mae (Smith) Thompson in Pontiac, MI. Bob enjoyed many things in life, especially if it involved friends and family. After graduating, he traveled a lot, living for a while with his sister Lynne in California. It was there that he enjoyed painting and the hippie life.
At the age of 28, Bob decided to settle down and married the love of his life Linda Bolt. They were married on September 3, 1983. They lived in the White Lake area until her passing in 1993.
Bob was what they calla “jack of all trades”. Whether it was selling cars, working for Sears, GM Motors, or even designing and building houses. His passion was his later business adventure of purchasing and running Hale Wrecking Salvage & Towing in Iosco County..which is where his favorite nickname came from.
In addition to his wife, Bob is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Craig Allen Thompson.
He is survived by his children, Kristopher Thompson, Brandon (Nikhe) Thompson, Kelly (Andrew) St. Pierre, Sarah (Nathan) Phegley; siblings, Janice (Lee) Nacarrow, Lynne (Murphy) Lucas, Cheryl (Pete)Harkness; sister-in-law, Gail Thompson; grandchildren, Kaydence, Kaylee, Jonathan, Tyler, Rayven, Meadow, Kayla, Kaiden, McKenzie, baby Andrew; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the American Legion Hall in Hale on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00pm. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
