Mildred Turland, 91, of Lupton

Mildred Elizabeth (Egon) Turland, a resident of Lupton, MI, passed away in Rose City, MI on October 24, 2022. She was born in West Branch, MI on November 17, 1930, to Daniel and Elizabeth (Rohl) Egon-Osborne. Mildred graduated from West Branch High School. She married Harry Turland on July 30, 1949. She was a housewife and mother to her family. She also worked as an assembly worker for Flint Motor Company and American Plastics, retiring in 1973.

She enjoyed going for rides with her children and visiting with family and friends. She loved going to church, listening to sermons, singing, and reading her bible when she could. Mildred wrote and assembled cookbooks. She canned food, baked, knitted, and made quilts.

She is survived by her children, Lucille (Jack) Lauria of Hale, Lois Harvey of St. Helen, Robert Turland of Lupton, Ronald (Hazel) Tuland of Clio, Daniel (Deborah) Turland of Dickinson, ND, Dennis (Karen) Turland of Saginaw, Dale (Cathlene) Turland of Hale, Hazel (Martin) Burr of Rose City; sister, Evelyn Jones of Gaylord; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great greatgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Harry Turland of 48 years, Mildred is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Clinton Osborne; brothers, Gilbert Egon, Emery Egon, James Egon; sisters, Genevieve Mier, Catherine Egon, Caroline Oyster; daughter, Doris Bates of Hale; Sons in law, Joe Rice and Timothy Harvey; grandsons, Paul Turland and Timothy Turland.

Per Mildred’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned for November 5, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Lupton Friends Church with Pastor Melvin Killinger presiding. Interment will follow the service at Selkirk Cemetery in West Branch, MI.
