Kathleen Theresa Jakobson, age 69, died August 25, 2022 at her home in Roscommon, Michigan.
Kate worked tirelessly to obtain her masters degree while raising her two children, Ali and Justin. She taught vital skills to countless college students during her tenure as a mathematics professor and later as a director of learning support services. She adored her kids and instilled in them her impeccable taste and passion for music and books (though not math). She lived life on her own terms until the end, and found community on Twitter, where thousands followed her for her insightful and often hilarious observations on politics, media, and culture.
Above all, Kate was kind, funny, and warm, and she will be greatly missed by Justin (Kathy) and Ali (Jenny); brothers Kevin (Debbie), Patrick (Mary Ann), and Craig; former spouse and father of her children, John (Delores); and her two constant companions, her cats Susie and Digby – among many others whose lives she touched over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecilia and Roy, and beloved grandparents Josephine and Patrick.
