Betty Julia House, age 102 of Sand Lake, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home on July 8, 2022.
She is survived by her son; David (Marilyn) House of East Falmouth, MA. Grandchildren; Sarah (Jeremy) Ley of Canon City, CO and Jacob (Svitlana) House of Colorado Springs, CO. Great-Grandchildren; Madelyn, Jackson and Olivia Ley and Breckon and Alexander House.
Betty was born on May 1, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Fred and Lula (Glave) Hantz. She attended Albion College where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority before receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State University and then her Master’s Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Betty was a teacher for the Redford Union School District before retiring in the early 1980’s and moving to Sand Lake full-time where she remained active with the Tawas United Methodist Church and within the Sand Lake Community.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce, in 2001.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM Wednesday (July13, 2022) at the Buresh Funeral Home (416 Whittemore Street, Tawas City, Michigan 48763). The funeral will be at 11:00 AM Thursday (July 14, 2022) at the Tawas United Methodist Church (20 East M-55, Tawas City, Michigan 48763) with Pastor Kris Kappler officiating. A graveside committal service will take place at 1:00 PM Saturday (July 16, 2022) at the Pioneer Cemetery in Sand Lake, Michigan.
